Small piece Ridge gourd Peel the skin of ridge gourd
1 small Tomato
4 small Garlic cloves As in the image
6 Small onion
Curry leaves
Oil
Mustard seeds For tempering
Urad dal (Black gram) For tempering
Salt

    Ridge Gourd Chutney or Peerkangai Chutney in Tamil, is one my favorite recipe. It’s easy to cook and also tastes great. My kids and even elders in my home likes this. I often make this as a quick fix for dinner.

    Ridge Gourd (Peerkangai in Tamil) is rich in fibers, water content and contains all the essential nutrients. It is also helpful in weight loss as it is low in cholesterol, fat and  calories. Okay! it is full of medical benefits. Let’s get to the recipe!

    Preparing the ingredients

    Cut the Ridge gourd, Onion, Tomato, Garlic and some curry leaves

    Heat oil in a pan, add Ridge gourd, Onion, Garlic cloves, Curry leaves, Salt and saute it well. While it's half cooked add the tomato and saute until the tomato could be mashed. Then let it cool for few minutes before adding it to the blender.

    Now blend the mixture by adding some water to bring it to a required quantity. (Don't add too much of water)

    Tempering

    To make it more flavorful we are going to temper it. Heat a spoon of oil in a pan, add some mustard, Urad dal, Curry leaves. When it splutters add the blended mixture and mix it.

    Ridge gourd chutney is ready!!!
