    Channa Masala or Chick Pea masala is the most common side-dish for Poori and Rotis in my home. It is simple and easy to prepare. If it comes for a vegetarian side-dish this is one of my favorite choice.

    Ingredients

    1. Soak the Channa Dal for 6 Hours. (I usually leave it the whole night)
    2. Add the Small Onions, Tomato, Green Chilli to a blender and make a paste out of it.
    3. Have the spices crushed
    4. Chop the Big Onions into small pieces

    Heat some oil in a pressure cooker; Add Mustard Seeds and Curry Leaves to it. Once the Mustard Seeds starts spluttering add the Onion-Tomato-Green-Chilli paste and Ginger-Garlic paste to it. Mix it well and cook for another 5 minutes.

    Add the soaked Channa Dal and mix it well. Add the crushed spices and saute it. Add the Curry Powder(made by red chilli, coriander seeds, cumin seeds) and Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder; Mix it well.

    Add some water, salt and stir it well. Cover the pressure cooker with its lid. After a whistle turn flame to simmer and leave it for 15 .

    Transfer the cooked Chana masala to a bowl. To spice it up serve with chopped big onion!!!
